free course and expert HELP to enable TEENAGERs and young people to MAKE BETTER CAREER CHOICES
In a recent article in the Guardian newspaper, Stephen Isherwood, Chief Executive of the Institute of Student Employers, the independent voice for student employers in the UK, said: “We need to make sure that a whole generation isn’t lost.”
Stephen’s call is one we are taking seriously at Career Alchemy.
As the COVID-19 pandemic takes hold, the economy is experiencing significant turbulence with some sectors like tourism contracting rapidly while others like the tech sector are flourishing. As a result, the plans of many teenagers and young graduates are also being affected as job offers and work experience evaporate. In times of uncertainty, like those that we are all experiencing today, it’s never been more important for us to come together as a community to support our young people.
Time, and again, research shows that parents and carers act as THE most significant influencers over the career decisions of young people yet the impact of COVID -19 could mean that the default choices made before the pandemic, and the opportunities available may change significantly in the future.
That’s why we have adapted our face to face programme and are launching the INSPiRED Teenager Plus Facebook Social Learning Group initiative.
Supported by the HM Government and The Cabinet Office as part of the Inclusive Economy Partnership, endorsed by the Institute of Student Employers, and supported by the Career Development Institute, this innovative digital community learning approach will enable parents/careers and their teenagers across the UK to work through key elements of the INSPiRED Teenager programme live together to create exciting futures and find a way through the upheaval they have experienced as a result of COVID-19.
Developed and delivered by Carolyn Parry RCDP, Founder and Lead Coach, the INSPiRED Teenager programme is a research-proven and structured approach which helps individuals create happy, successful and purposeful working lives that last. The content for each unit will be taught via twenty minute Facebook Live sessions online each week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We have twenty qualified and experienced careers adviser volunteers ready to provide support and employers will be joining us too. We will also be inviting experts to join us for live Question and Answer sessions on other days. The group is free for parents and carers to join and participate in the programme - and will remain so.
